What is a System Bet?
A system bet covers every possible combination of a given size from your selections. In a 2/4 system you pick four events, and the bookmaker places all six possible doubles as separate bets. You do not need every selection to win — as soon as any two land, at least one of those doubles pays out.
That resilience is the whole point. An accumulator dies with its first loser; a system keeps paying while some legs fail. The cost is that your stake is spread across many bets, so the return when everything wins is lower than the same money on a straight accumulator.
The Formula
The number of combinations is the binomial coefficient — the number of ways to choose k events out of n:
- Combinations: C(n, k) = n! / (k! × (n − k)!)
- Stake per combination: s = S / C(n, k), where S is your total stake
- Return of one winning combination: s × O₁ × O₂ × … × O_k
- Total return: the sum over every combination whose selections all won

Example: a 2/3 System
You back three matches at odds of 2.00, 3.00 and 1.50, staking ₦900 in total on a 2/3 system.
- Combinations: C(3, 2) = 3 doubles — (1+2), (1+3), (2+3)
- Stake per double: ₦900 ÷ 3 = ₦300
- If all three win: ₦300 × (2.00×3.00 + 2.00×1.50 + 3.00×1.50) = ₦300 × 13.50 = ₦4,050
- If only matches 1 and 2 win: only the (1+2) double pays — ₦300 × 6.00 = ₦1,800, still a ₦900 profit
- If only match 3 loses… that is the same case as above — one winning double out of three
Note the asymmetry: which selections win matters as much as how many. Two winners at 2.00 and 3.00 return ₦1,800, but two winners at 2.00 and 1.50 return only ₦900 — exactly your stake back. That is why the calculator above shows a range rather than a single figure for each number of winners.
System vs Accumulator
Put the same ₦900 on a treble at those odds and you would collect ₦8,100 if all three win — twice what the system pays. But a single loser leaves you with nothing, whereas the system still returns ₦1,800. A system is insurance you pay for out of your best-case winnings.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is a system bet different from an accumulator?
An accumulator is a single bet on all your selections at once — one loss and the whole bet is gone. A system splits the same selections into every possible smaller combination, so you still get a payout when some legs lose. You pay for that safety net: a system costs one stake per combination, so the same total outlay buys lower returns than an accumulator when everything wins.
How many combinations are in a 3/5 system?
Ten. The count is the binomial coefficient C(5,3) = 5! / (3! × 2!) = 10, so a 3/5 system places ten separate trebles. At a ₦1,000 total stake each treble carries ₦100.
How many selections must win for a system to pay out?
At least k, where k is the combination size. A 2/4 system pays as soon as any two of the four selections win. Whether that returns a profit depends on the odds — the calculator shows the exact break-even point for your numbers.
What is a Lucky 15?
A Lucky 15 is a full-cover bet on four selections: 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 fourfold — 15 bets in total. Unlike a plain system it includes the singles, so a single winner already returns something. Many bookmakers add a bonus when all four win or a consolation when only one does.
Is the stake per combination or in total?
Both are used. Nigerian bookmakers usually ask for a stake per combination, so a Lucky 15 at ₦100 costs ₦1,500. The calculator accepts either — switch between "Total stake" and "Per combination" and it converts for you.
